Construction stage restraints
These parameters define the lateral restraint condition of the steel beam during the construction stage, prior to composite action with the slab.
Top flange laterally restrained
This condition represents cases where lateral movement of the top flange is prevented by temporary or permanent restraints present during construction.
Top flange is free to move laterally
This condition represents unrestrained construction-stage behaviour, where no lateral restraint is provided to the top flange.
Web openings
Web openings define penetrations within the web of the steel beam. The following parameters describe the geometry and position of each opening.
Type
The type determines whether the opening is defined as circular or rectangular.
Width / diameter
For rectangular openings, this parameter defines the opening width. For circular openings, this parameter defines the opening diameter.
Height
Defines the vertical size of the web opening. This parameter applies to rectangular openings only.
Centroid from left of beam
Defines the horizontal position of the web opening centroid, measured from the left end of the beam.
Centroid from top of beam
Defines the vertical position of the web opening centroid, measured downwards from the top of the beam section.
Stud property
This parameter references the stud definition used to represent the shear connection between the steel beam and the concrete slab.
Slab edge distance
Defines the distance from the edge of the concrete slab to the centreline of the steel beam. This parameters applied only to edge beams.
