Analyse beam

Analyse the beam​

  1. Select 'Create Elements from Members' icon icon, a window opens showing Member list 'all', click OK.0118_beam_elements_from_members

This is to create the elements that will pass through the finite element solver. You can now view the elements in the analysis layer by right-clicking and Switch layer. More explanation can be found here Design and analysis layers.

  1. Click on the All loads icon icon to view the loads that you just applied.

    Tip: You can view the loadcases in the Cases dropdown inside the graphics view.

  2. Press the Analyse icon icon to analyse the structure.

  3. Check if the analysis report any warnings or error messages.

View the result diagrams​

  1. Results in the graphics view can be shown as diagrams. Press the Myy bending moment icon and the Fz shear force icon icons to view the bending moment and shear force on the beam. Click through the loadcases Permanent, Imposed, and Combination 1 to view their respective results.0120_beam_result_diagram

Other common results options are available to view in the diagrams toolbar:

  1. Click on annotate icon then click and drag the mouse across the structure to view the numerical results.
