Analysis tasks

After finalising the section definition, analysis is carried out in the Analysis tab.

In AdSec, analysis is organised into analysis tasks. Each task represents a specific analysis setup, defined by a small number of key parameters. You can define multiple analysis tasks for the same section to explore different limit states, load assumptions, or analysis types.


Defining an analysis task

When you create or select an analysis task, the core parameters are defined at the top of the task container.

These parameters determine both the type of analysis performed and the results that become available.

The basic task parameters are:

  • Limit state
  • Input type
  • Load term
  • Creep coefficient (depending on the selected load term)

Task parameters

Limit state

The limit state defines whether the task is evaluated at:

  • Ultimate Limit State (ULS), or
  • Serviceability Limit State (SLS)

The selected limit state controls which checks are performed and which results are available.


Input type

The input type defines if loading or deformations are specified for the load cases within the task. [Note]

The input type can be changed after analysis. When switching from Load to Deformation, AdSec reuses the computed ULS deformation as the input. Thus, valid ULS results are required; otherwise, load cases may be reset.


Load term

The load term defines whether the task represents short‑term or long‑term loading, or intermediate-term in some instances.

This selection influences how material behaviour is evaluated and whether creep is considered.


Creep coefficient

When applicable, the creep coefficient allows you to account for long‑term material behaviour, or intermediate-term in some instances.


Multiple analysis tasks and cases

Multiple analysis scenarios can be defined for the same section by selecting Add task.

Likewise, within each analysis task, the section can be assessed under different loading or deformation cases.
