Setup
The Setup section is where you define the overall context for your AdSec model. Settings defined here apply across the entire file and influence how inputs, results, and reports are handled.
Use Setup to define project details, units, output formatting, and the design code used for the calculation.
Project information
The Project information area allows you to record contextual details for the calculation, such as:
- Job number
- Job title
- Author or creator of the calculation
- Additional project notes
This information is typically included in reports and helps with traceability and documentation.
Units
In the Units section, you define the units used throughout the model.
AdSec provides several predefined unit presets, including:
- SI units
- Imperial / English units
If the available presets do not meet your requirements, you can also define custom unit sets.
Output precision
The Output precision settings control how numerical results are displayed.
You can specify the number of decimal places used for each unit type. For example, you may choose to display:
- Length values in millimetres
- Rounded to two decimal places
These settings affect how values are presented in tables, results views, and reports, but do not change the underlying calculation accuracy.
Design code
In the Design code section, you define the standards used for the calculation.
You must select:
- A code group, and
- Either a national annex or a specific design code
For example, when selecting a Canadian code group, you must then choose the appropriate Canadian design code.
The selected design code determines which compatible options—such as material definitions—are available elsewhere in the application, particularly in the Materials tab.
